Team Summary

The Senior Manager – Media, Digital and Data Strategy will lead the media function at Visa and will report to Head of Marketing for INSA. This individual will deliver strategic and tactical marketing media value to our consumers and key clients in India, as a key member of INSA Marketing Team, working closely with India leadership team and India Product team and the Asia Pacific Hub Marketing team.

India has one of the most exciting media landscapes in the world. It is a huge evolving market throbbing with activity, change, and experimentation. The Indian media industry has evolved drastically in the last decade with the arrival of new mediums and formats for content dissemination and consumption. The advances in technology, sweeping digital transformation and shifting demographics to millennials who are responsible for high level of media consumption has made media more complex and the task of media planning more challenging than ever before.

Where else in the world would you find a landscape as rich and varied as India with over 900 TV channels, over 500 radio stations and . Whereas on digital front, 692M people access the internet, 535M are on Facebook, 230M have Instagram accounts, and over 50M Twitter (X) accounts.

What a Senior Manager – Media & Digital does at Visa:

The Senior Manager role is part of INSA Marketing team focusing on driving organic and paid media initiatives for Client and Consumer Marketing. The incumbent should be sharp, ambitious, and enthusiastic media expert with strong communication and leadership skills to help deepen relationships with new and established Visa Issuer, Merchant, and Fintech clients.

The INSA Marketing team is transforming how we partner with clients to drive engagement through a proactive and results-driven marketing approach. Acting as a paid media subject-matter expert, the Senior Manager will be responsible for delivering organic and paid media solutions.

This position will work with the media agency to develop and implement multi-channel media plans that meet Media KPIs. The right candidate will collaborate with internal Visa teams and manage external agencies to execute best-in-class media plans and tactics that deliver on critical business objectives.

Strong project management and presentation skills are necessary, grounded in a firm understanding of various media channel strategies, tactics, and measurement. The Senior Manager must be able to thrive in a highly matrixed environment. You are results-oriented, flexible with a can do, positive attitude.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate with Visa and Client stakeholders to develop results-based media plans and lead plan execution
  • Leadership: Act as a media subject matter expert, guiding consumer and client marketing team through media needs and representing Visa's media expertise with external partners and clients
  • Project Collaboration: Work within the broader marketing team to corroborate timelines and plans, making sure media complements creative, sponsorship, PR, and owned-channel tactics
  • Agency Management: Coordinate and manage the media process with multiple agency teams (lead media strategy/sponsorship agency, digital/social agency, and search agency), including briefing, plan review/refinement, measurement, plan optimization, budget management, and reporting
  • Finance: Manage media budgets across marketing campaigns and work with the finance team to ensure all paid media dollars are accounted for and accurate
  • Measurement: Partner with analytics, research, and measurement teams to measure the impact of media strategy and optimizations, understand plan performance, and evangelize results to client teams
  • Optimization: Proactively provide ongoing recommendations to optimize, test, and learn
  • Technology and Data: Stay connected to changing data & privacy standards, finance-specific guidelines like Fair Lending Compliance, attribution solutions, and emerging payment products
  • Relationships: Establish productive relationships with key partners within and beyond Visa spanning Creative, Brand, Finance, Legal, Measurement, Research, Analytics, and Agencies
  • Play a vital role in assessment and optimization of marketing investment and deliver revenue to Visa by offering Media/ Marketing advisory as a VAS to Visa’s clients.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

10+ years of relevant marketing and related marketing experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA)

  • Experience working on the agency side including management experience will be
  • Experience delivering, implementing, and gaining adoption of strategic media plans from brief, to plan, to learning agenda, to optimization, to post-campaign reporting
  • Strategic & tactical experience with digital media (including social media, programmatic buying, and SEM) and traditional/offline media
  • Data-driven mindset: sets and measures quantifiable goals, learns, and continually optimizes approach
  • Understanding of B2B and B2C campaigns, on and offline campaigns, and partnerships that delivered on both brand and direct response goals
  • The right person is self-driven and independent. A hand raiser, building relationships and chasing opportunities within and beyond the job description, but knows great teams are better than all-star players trying to carry the load alone
  • Clear track record of collaboration and consensus-building with multi-disciplined teams
  • Good verbal and written communications with the ability to communicate with a diverse audience, including executives, business, product, technology, and finance stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead a portfolio of programs and initiatives end-to-end to meet commitments, with a strong work ethic, a detail-oriented approach, and a customer-centric perspective.
